Masai Mara National Reserve
Experience the world's most spectacular wildlife sanctuary, home to the Great Migration and an abundance of African wildlife.
About Masai Mara
The Masai Mara National Reserve is one of Africa's most magnificent game reserves. Bordering Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, the Mara is named after the Maasai people and their description of the area when looked at from afar: "Mara," which means "spotted" in the local Maa language, due to the many short bushy trees which dot the landscape.
The reserve is famous for its exceptional population of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and its annual migration of zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest from the Serengeti every year from July to October, known as the Great Migration.
